Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about our matcha — grades, origin, ordering and more.
About our matcha
Ceremonial is our highest grade — smooth, delicate and best enjoyed whisked with water. Barista grade is bolder and designed to cut through milk in lattes and iced drinks. Culinary grade is our most robust grade, made for baking, smoothies and recipes where matcha needs to hold its flavor. Every bag is clearly labelled so you always know what you're getting.
You can, but we'd recommend our Barista grade instead. Ceremonial grade is designed to be enjoyed pure with water — its delicate flavor can get lost in milk. Barista grade is specifically blended to pair beautifully with oat, almond or dairy milk.
Flush refers to the harvest. First flush (spring) produces the youngest, most delicate leaves — used for our Ceremonial grade. Second flush leaves are bolder, used for Barista. Third flush is the most robust, used for Culinary. The earlier the harvest, the smoother the taste.
Yes — all our matcha is EU organic certified. No synthetic pesticides, no unnecessary chemicals. The certification covers the full chain from farm to finished product.
Origin
Our Ceremonial and Barista matcha come from Uji, Kyoto — one of Japan's most respected matcha regions with over 800 years of tea history. Our Culinary grade comes from Kagoshima in southern Japan, known for bold and robust matcha.
Matcha quality varies enormously depending on where and how it's grown. A lot of matcha available in Sweden is low grade and can taste bitter. We source directly from established regions and clearly label every bag with the grade — so you always know exactly what you're drinking.
